Being a freelance makeup artist/makeup obsessed makeup hoarder, I get a ton of questions about what my favorite “go to” products are especially around the time of the infamous Sephora VIB sale!
So I decided to share some of the products I use the most, the products I grab when I vacation, and the products I would say would be my first choice with all categories. Sephora’s website can be very overwhelming. There are TONS of products and they all begin to look the same if you are not immersed in the beauty world. I’m hoping this list of favorites will help you to narrow down some of your choices!
Lets start by saying, My skin is combination and fair. I have been blessed with really good skin (no acne, skin conditions, etc) So these are just my recommendations that have worked for me, they may not work for you.
Makeup Favorites
My go to Pallets are always TARTE. Tarte eyeshadows blend like a dream because their eyeshadows are made with Amazonian Clay. They make some really great Matte “everyday” Pallets. My two favorites are pictured above and linked below towards the end of this blog post! If I’m on the go, I stick a matte transition shade in my crease and reach for my NUDE STIX. These are cream shadow crayons that you can literally slap on your lid, and go about your day! they glide on smooth and loom amazing on an every day basis. If you are looking for something you can use quickly to add a little glam, check out the STILA MAGNIFICENT METALS/GLITTER AND GLOW liquid shadows. These do not flake or crunch off once you paint them on, which is amazing! They are also great for that quick easy glam! Paint it on with the dough-foot and go! My favorite is Diamond dust. This will add some diamond sparkle to amp up any look!
If you are looking for the best “glam” shadow pallet, that gives you that amazing pinterest neutral smokey eye, you will definitely want to snag the DOMINIQUE COSMETICS LATTE PALLET. Now, a lot of you may not even have ever heard of this brand, which is why these blogs are so important! Christine Dominique is a Youtube influencer, Beauty Guru if you will, that started her own makeup line…and DAMN did she ever get these shimmers right! They go on the creamiest, and the most vibrant than I’ve ever experienced from a metallic shimmer. This pallet also gives some nice pops of color to switch it up! I personally used this Pallet for my own wedding makeup! thats how amazing it performs!
KVD (formerly known as Kat Von D Beauty) makes my most favorite primer, with my second favorite being the Marc Jacobs coconut primer. both similar in consistency, add a nice, non-silicon hydration to your skin that allows your makeup to look amazing! They almost work as a moisturizer and are gentle with your skin! Speaking of face makeup, that brings me to my newest favorite foundation and concealer combo. The BECCA 24 HOUR COVERAGE has been amazing! It’s my go to higher end ever since I received it in my BoxyLuxe for March. Looks so natural, and covers everything! a “your skin but better” full coverage. This is rare for Matte full coverage foundations, most look very heavy, but not Becca. Especially added with NARS RADIANT CREAMY concealer. This is a creaseproof, creamy, non sticky full coverage concealer. No cake face here!
Quick set…leads me to 2 items. LAURA MERCIER translucent setting powder is one of the most famous setting powders. I do use this for my entire face and under my eyes…BUT…The absolute best under eye powder, is TARTE SMOOTH OPERATOR translucent powder. This compact is so finely milled, it makes your under eyes look airbrushed! I even carry this item in my purse!
Bronzer and blush time! To save space, my best recommendation is this TARTE-TARTIEST CONTOUR PALLET. This has everything you need to bronze up the face, chisel it a bit, and add dimension. There is a matte bronzer as well as a sun kissed one with slight shimmer. This gives you that, just laid in the sun look when used with a fluffy large powder brush. This pallet also comes with 2 really soft pink blushes that work with every skin tone, as well as highlighters that are actually pretty blinding! The formulas are spot on, definitely a great choice for on the go!
One of my favorite highlighters from Sephora is the BECCA PRESSED SHIMMER HIGHLIGHTER in moonstone and Champagne pop. It adds just the right sort of glow to my particular skin tone! subtle gold, not too icy, but not too warm. Be warned however, this highlighter is not for the faint of heart! Its BLINDING!
Coming down to the end of the routine, Liner and Lashes! I tend to go for liquid liners before anything, however at times I quickly line with a pencil. The blackest and most matte liner the I go for is by KVD Beauty, called TATTOO LINER. As for the best most creamy pencil liners, great for waterline and smudging, would be the URBAN DECAY 24/7 LINER in every color, and they have a ton! As for Lashes, my most favorite, is MARC JACOBS VELVET NOIR mascara and TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX. They have similar brushes, but If I had to choose one, it would be the Marc Jacobs. I’ve never seen my lashes (which are pathetic mind you…) be so full without looking spidery!
Lastly…you can’t go anywhere without something on those lips! After some lip treatment, a good lip scrub, or lip mask, the best Nude lip I’ve ever used for my fair/medium skin tone in lipstick form is TOO FACED NATURAL NUDES lipstick in “Send Nudes.” And I’m not saying that because the name is the BEST I’ve seen (because it is,) but its because it is very moisturizing, doesn’t give you the infamous “butthole lip” (excuse my french) and blends so nicely with your natural lips! This comes in more colors, and I can assure you the formula is so good to throw in your purse for everyday wear!
